第一遍，先讀懂發生甚麼事。
先讀完整篇，不用每遇到一個新字就停下。想一想：誰遇到問題？他們試了甚麼方法？結果有何改變？第二遍再留意三個加粗的字。
ORIGINAL PRACTICE PASSAGE
The lunch-break repair table
When a zip broke on Noah’s pencil case, he nearly threw the whole thing away. His classmate Ada suggested a different approach: a repair table in the library, open once a week at lunch.
At first, the librarian was reluctant. She worried that tools would be noisy and that students might leave a mess. Ada proposed a small trial. Students would fix simple items, such as loose buttons, and ask an adult to handle anything sharp or electrical.
The first session attracted only four visitors. Yet each person brought something they hoped to keep. One student repaired a torn notebook cover; another learned how to sew a button. By the third week, there was a short queue.
The project did not eliminate waste at school. It did, however, make repair feel more accessible. “I used to think fixing things required special talent,” Noah said. “Now I know that some repairs just need a little guidance.”
用前後意思找線索。
看到 reluctant，留意圖書館主任擔心甚麼，以及 Ada 為何建議先試行。看到 eliminate，留意 did not，並與下一句較有限的成果比較。看到 accessible，則把 Noah 最後的感想和維修桌提供的協助連起來。
先作暫時推測，再查字典。語境有時只能縮小意思範圍，未必提供完整定義。如果仍有多個意思說得通，就用字典確認哪個最貼合原句。
試答三條問題。
選答案時，也指出文章哪一部分支持你的判斷。

- B：主任擔心噪音和清潔，有限度試行及選擇安全的工作，正好回應她的顧慮。
- A：學生可以在協助下嘗試簡單維修。Accessible 在這裏指較容易參與，並非價格。
- C：Noah 從認為維修需要特殊天分，變成明白適當指導也有幫助。文章沒有說所有物件都容易修好，也沒有說學校不再產生垃圾。
連同情境保留三個字。
- reluctant 不太願意的；猶豫的
- 主任有顧慮，未準備好答應。可記詞組：reluctant to try something。
- eliminate 消除
- 這裏指完全消除垃圾；文章說這個計劃並沒有做到這點。
- accessible 容易參與或使用的
- 這裏指一般學生也能接觸和嘗試。其他情境也可能涉及實際通行，或資訊是否容易理解。
選一個想保留的字，再寫新例句。例如：“I was reluctant to speak in the group, but my partner helped me start.” 情境改變了，意思仍然清楚。
